The Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) provides the public access to records maintained by the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB). An individual can submit a FOIA request for records held or believed to be held by the DNFSB. The FOIA requires federal agencies to provide records unless exempt from disclosure as defined in the Act. Written requests can be submitted by mail or by e-mail.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, DNFSB has modified its operations to protect the health and safety of all DNFSB employees and contractors while they fulfill the agency’s mission. As a result, there may be delays in processing FOIA requests and appeals until normal operations have been reinstituted. To reduce the chance for such delays, we recommend that you submit all FOIA related communications by e-mail. Requests can be transmitted to us directly at FOIA@dnfsb.gov or through the national FOIA threshold at https://www.foia.gov/. Appeals and all general FOIA-related correspondence should be sent to us directly at FOIA@dnfsb.gov.If you have questions about a FOIA request, you may contact our FOIA Public Liaison.
