Dr. Omolola Fawole
Dr. Omolola Fawole is the Chief Financial Officer and Director of Budget and Finance with 20+ years of exceptional technical and leadership experience with internal control, financial statements, audit, all aspects of financial operations, budget formulation, and execution. She is currently leading the Defense Nuclear Facilities Safety Board (DNFSB) CFO directorate, providing oversight on the budget and finance portfolios: budget execution and justification, financial management, financial reporting, and internal control over financial reporting. From 2016 to 2021, she oversaw a high-level, multi-billion-dollar congressional-mandated financial statements (FS) audit for the Department of the Air Force (DAF), successfully ushering the agency into its first-ever FS audit since the Congress passed the amended CFO Act of 1990. As a Director with the Air Force, she served as a technical advisor to political appointees and military Generals in identifying significant risks and material internal control weaknesses across the Air Force enterprise while responding to numerous congressional inquiries.
Prior to her assignment with the DAF, she was a staff Accountant with the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense Comptroller where she executed timely completion and publication of the fiscal year 2015 Agency Financial Report and the Summary of Performance and Financial Information for the Department of Defense. From 2011 to 2015, she served, as the Chief Accountant, Medical Accounts Receivable with the Air Force Medical Service (AFMS), where she led the Financial Improvement and Audit Readiness (FIAR) efforts of 74 hospitals and clinics. She conducted reviews of various accounting transactions and reports, financial statements, fund balances, and database queries to ascertain accuracy and completeness of financial transactions to meet audit readiness requirements. While serving at the AFMS, she directed a $132 million Air Force Medical Service (AFMS) reimbursement program and deployed 5 e-Commerce systems; facilitated Federal Reserve Bank reporting and expedited $49M in Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) collections. She also served honorable in the Air Force for 5 years.
